Barely two weeks ago Reading looked down and out and headed to the Championship. However manager Steve Coppell managed to coax out some fine performances from his team that have seen the Royals win three out of their last four league games.

Last weekend Birmingham were beaten 2-1 at the Madejski with Andre Bikey scoring a brace. The win has taken Reading 6 points above the drop zone and some decent results in their remaining seven games could see the side survive into the next Premier League season.

Blackburn have also revived their bid for a European place following a mini-slump during the Christmas and New Year fixtures. Manager Mark Hughes will be quite happy to see his side in such great form so much so that Rovers triumphed over Wigan even though Christopher Samba was dismissed early in the game.

Roque Santa Cruz scored twice, while Jason Roberts scored the other goal. Marlon King got Wigan's lone goal from the penalty spot after Samba was adjudged to have unfairly brought down Emile Heskey.

The win placed Blackburn on the eighth spot in the Premiership table. Meanwhile Brett Emerton, who missed the Wigan game with a groin injury, could return for the Reading match.
