The Gers have played 9 games and have 19 points from the same. They currently lie 3rd on the league table behind Celtic and Hibernian, but have one game in hand. Last week their game against Dundee United was called off at half time due to a waterlogged pitch.

Rangers are also having problems in Europe, where their challenge is all but over after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Romanian champions Unirea. Lee McCulloch had given Rangers the lead in the 78th minute, but an 88th minute equalizer from substitute Marius Onofras put the Gers on the brink of elimination from Europe. Manager Walter Smith has refused to give up hope, but even he will be hard pressed to conjure up a miracle to see his side through.

Meanwhile St Mirren will be looking to bounce back from a 0-2 defeat to Hamilton Academical last week. Goals from Marco Paixao and Martin Canning gave Hamilton all three points and enabled them to widen the gap between themselves and Falkirk in a bottom-table battle.

St Mirren were reduced to 10 men in that game after Lee Mair was sent off in the second half. The Saints have multiple injury worries as Craig Dargo, Mo Camara, Chris Smith and Steven Robb continue to be sidelined.
