Rangers beat Hamilton by a “comfortable” 1-0 in their last game, meaning they maintain their number one spot in the SPL table on goal difference from Celtic - and this despite Celtic thrashing St. Mirren in their game by 7-0. Rangers could rarely have had an easier 1-0 victory than the one they enjoyed in their SPL game against Hamilton last weekend. Despite the almost constant pressure they exerted on the home sides goal, it took a scrappy goal from captain Barry Ferguson, his first league goal of the season, to settle matters. Hamilton rarely threatened the Rangers goal and were lucky to keep the score down as they did – knowing full well that in the other two SPL games this season between the sides, they let in ten goals!

The blues entertain Inverness on Wednesday evening and will be desperate to get the three points before the cup games at the weekend. Inverness sit bottom of the league at the moment and Rangers will see this as a relatively easy test before the quarter final against Hamilton on Sunday.
