Rangers will look to extend their slender lead over Celtic at the top of the SPL table when they welcome Motherwell to the Ibrox Stadium this weekend. The Gers regained top spot on the league table after beating Dundee United 0-3 on Tuesday. DaMarcus Beasley gave Rangers the lead and a Kenny Miller brace sealed all three points for the visitors. The win took Gers to the top of the table with 34 points from 15 games; one more than Celtic.

Rangers boss Walter Smith will have been relived with his side's showing especially after they were dumped out of Europe last week. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Kevin Thomson should be back after recovering from a hamstring strain.

Maurice Edu is also in line to make a rare appearance after recovering from an ankle injury, which had delayed his comeback following knee surgery.

Meanwhile Motherwell will be looking to bounce back from a 2-3 loss to Celtic last week. Georgios Samaras gave the Hoops an early lead, but goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz and Mark Reynolds put Well ahead before Aiden McGeady leveled for Celtic on 51 minutes. Substitute Marc-Antoine Fortune sealed the game in Celtic's favor with a late winner.

Motherwell boss Jim Gannon will hope his side can put up a better showing in this game. However he will be without Shaun Hutchinson, Chris Humphrey, Marc Fitzpatrick, Darren Smith and Paul Slane for this game.
