The defending champions have bounced back from a poor run of form with a 7-2 thumping of Sunderland in the league encounter last weekend. Manager Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his side’s display against the Black Cats and claimed that it was the best performance by the Blues since he moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Chelsea manager has already admitted that he views the FA Cup as one of the most important trophies and is expected to once again field his strongest line up as he looks to avoid an embarrassing defeat against their Championship opponents.

The Lilywhites suffered a heavy 4-2 defeat to Bristol City in Ferguson’s first game in charge of the club and the former Peterborough United coach will be hoping that his side can improve on that performance with a spirited display against Chelsea this weekend.

Both the teams have met twice before in the competition with Chelsea winning on both occasions. However the Blues have not won on their last three trips to the Deepdale Stadium with their last win coming back in 1962-63 season.
