Portugal registered a massive 7-0 win over North Korea in their second game to virtually ensure a place for themselves in the knockout stages. A brace from Tiago and goals from Raul Meireles, Simao, Hugo Almeida, Liedson and Cristiano Ronaldo gave the Portuguese a facile win and set up a platform for them to progress through.

Coach Carlos Queiroz will need to decide whether to include Deco for the final game. The Chelsea midfielder missed the game against North Korea due to an injury, but is expected to be fit for this one although it remains to be seen if the winning combination is to be changed.

Meanwhile Brazil ensured a place in the knockout stages with a 3-1 win over Ivory Coast. A brace from Luis Fabiano and another goal from Elano gave the Brazilians a fine win although Didier Drogba pulled one back in the final minutes. The main worry for Brazil is that Kaka misses out this game after being sent off against the Ivoirians. Coach Dunga was furious with the sending off, but will have to name a replacement for Kaka.
