The Portuguese go into the World Cup on the back of a poor qualifying campaign and their form did not improve as they were held to an embarrassing draw by Cape Verde, a team that is ranked more than a hundred places below them in the FIFA world rankings.

Raul Meireles opened the scoring just past the half hour mark and with Cameroon being reduced to 10 men after Samuel Eto’o was sent off, it was Portugal all the way as Meireles added a second while Nani was also on target with Pierre Webo scoring a consolation goal.

The Manchester United winger is expected to start against Mozambique on Tuesday after impressing Queiroz who will be looking to get his starting line-up right before Portugal’s opening match against Ivory Coast on June 15.
