A less than impressive qualifying campaign has seen Portugal sit third in their group table with just 13 points from their eight games, five points less than group leaders Denmark and two less than second placed Sweden.

However with Denmark and Sweden playing each other on Saturday, Carlos Queiroz will be optimistic that his side can repeat their performance from their last game and pounce on any slip ups by the top two teams.

Portugal secured a narrow 1-0 win away to Hungary in their last game with Real Madrid defender Pepe scored the only goal of the match to help his side register a vital win and remain in contention to book their place in the World Cup finals next year.

Queiroz has recalled Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira who was out of action since January this year with a knee injury. Guimaraes midfielder Nuno Assis finds his name in the national squad for the first time in nearly nine year while Benfica's Cesar Peixoto has also been called up.

Hungary too will be going all out for a win with Erwin Koeman's side still in contention to secure at least a play off spot. Hungary are level on points with Portugal and though they lost their home game last time around, Koeman will be confident that his side can put up an improved performance and secure a vital win this weekend.
