Portugal will be looking to repeat their performance from their win against Malta when they welcome Denmark in their second World Cup qualification match on Wednesday. Watch international soccer live on Live Sport Network.

Carlos Queiroz started his second spell as the Portugal coach in an excellent fashion as his side thrashed Malta 4-0 at the Ta'Qali National Stadium on Saturday. Portugal took the lead midway through the first half thanks to an own goal by Brian Said in the 24th minute.

 

 

The visitors stepped up the pressure in the second half with Hugo Almeida doubling the lead just past the hour mark before late goals from Simao and Nani ensured that Portugal had a comfortable outing in the final 10 minutes of the match.

They take on a Denmark side who were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Hungary. With Denmark being one of the three teams expected to qualify out of the group, coach Morten Olsen will be very unhappy following the result but will take solace from the fact that Sweden too ended their opening match with a 0-0 draw away to Albania.

 

 

Denmark had missed out of a place in the 2006 World Cup by finishing third in their group, just one point behind Turkey. With Denmark also missing out from the Euro 2008 championship, Olsen will be hopeful that his side will manage qualify for the World Cup this time around, starting with a win over Portugal on Wednesday.
