Pompey have played decent football since Tony Adams was sacked, but still find themselves just four points above the drop zone. They currently have 33 points from 30 games. After a great result against Everton that gave the club some breathing space, Pompey were held to a 0-0 draw by Hull City at the KC Stadium over the weekend.

Hull were not able to capitalize on their one-man advantage after Pompey's Glen Johnson was sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half. Portsmouth manager Paul Hart revealed his players were tired after a long, hard season, where they also took part in the early stages of the UEFA Cup. However he expressed confidence that Pompey would be able to survive in top flight premier league this season.

 

 

Meanwhile West Brom's sojourn into the top flight appears all but over after they sank to a 0-2 loss to fellow strugglers Stoke City over the weekend. The Baggies have had a miserable time and that was underlined at the Hawthorns where Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie scored decent goals to give Stoke's hopes of survival a big boost.

This game was a virtual six-pointer for both sides and the loss leaves West Brom at the bottom spot with 24 points from 31 games; some six points away from safety. West Brom boss Tony Mowbray blamed poor concentration levels among the players, but stressed they have to keep going.

 

 

Earlier this season, the reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw. Neither side will be satisfied if the same result comes about this weekend.
