Pompey needed a replay to beat Bristol City in their last round after they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw in the original game played in front of home fans. The defending Champions needed goals from Peter Crouch and Niko Kranjcar to settle the replay in their favor.

Boss Tony Adams will be hoping that a need for replay does not arise this time as he looks to keep his side from falling through the relegation trap door in the Premier League. The sale of Lassana Diarra and Jermaine Defoe has weakened Pompey greatly, but they have managed to sign Jermaine Pennant in the January transfer window. Media reports indicate Christian Poulsen could also arrive from Juventus.

 

 

Sean Davis and David Nugent should be fit for this game, but Papa Bouba Diop and Richard Hughes continue to be long-term absentees.

Swansea advanced to the FA Cup fourth round after they beat Histon 2-1 in the previous round. Gorka Pintado put the Championship side ahead and Guillem Bauza doubled their advantage. Just when it looked like an easy win, Histon rallied and Josh Simpson pulled one back. However the Swans held on to set up a meeting with Pompey.

 

 

Manager Roberto Martinez should be able to select Leon Britton, who missed their game against Reading due to suspension. Nathan Dyer, who is on loan from Southampton until the end of the season, could also feature in this game, while Jason Scotland may start after being benched against Reading.
