Pompey are eight points clear of safety and are all but certain to get relegated this season once the Premier League decides to impose a nine point deduction for going into administration. Portsmouth's administrator, Andrew Andronikou said that he has tried to explain the consequences of fighting against the deduction which would mean an automatic 10 point cut next season.

Portsmouth suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in their last match and manager Avram Grant admitted that his side deserved to lose the game after a poor performance. While his side is almost guaranteed to be relegated, Grant will be hopeful that they can end their season on a high and show that they belong in the league.

Meanwhile Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has revealed that a new manager will be installed before the match with Iain Dowie emerging as favorite. Phil Brown was sacked by Hull on Monday with the club placed 19th in the league and three points away from safety.

Anthony Gardner is the only major injury concern for Hull while Portsmouth could be missing a number of key players with John Utaka, Tal Ben-Haim and David James all doubt for the game this weekend.
