Portsmouth seem to have adjusted to life without Tony Adams nicely, but their resilience is bound to be severely tested when Chelsea visit Fratton Park on Tuesday. Watch all the live premier league action here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Pompey will be relatively fresh, having no match over the weekend. They drew 2-2 against Stoke last week. Niko Kranjcar had put them ahead only for James Beattie to score a brace and put Stoke 2-1 ahead. An unfortunate own goal from Ryan Shawcross gave Portsmouth one point from the game.

Portsmouth caretaker boss Paul Hart continues to be without Richard Hughes, Papa Bouba Diop, Glen Little and Jamie Ashdown, but Younes Kaboul, Armand Traore and Jerome Thomas are available once again.

 

 

Chelsea have recovered nicely from the unexpected departure of former boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and have registered two wins under new boss Guus Hiddink. On Saturday the Blues beat Wigan 2-1 in a highly entertaining game at Stamford Bridge. Goals from John Terry and Frank Lampard gave Chelsea all three points and ensured that Olivier Kapo's 82nd minute equalizer was in vain.

The win takes the Blues to the second spot on the league table ahead of Liverpool, whose campaign appears doomed after a loss to Middlesbrough. Hiddink was not happy with his side's narrow 1-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League, but he will have had no complaints after their splendid performance at home over the weekend.

 

 

On the injury front, Ricardo Carvalho is sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Deco is also battling an identical issue. The good news is that Michael Essien is back to full fitness, but will miss this game. The Ghana midfielder is expected to play against Aston Villa reserves on Monday.
