Pompey put up an excellent performance on Saturday to book a place in the semi finals of the FA Cup by beating Birmingham 2-0 at Fratton Park. Frederic Piquionne scored two goals in space of three second half minutes but there was some controversy late in the game when Birmingham were denied a goal even though Hermann Hreidarsson's header was saved after the ball crossed the line.

While manager Avram Grant will be delighted with the result, he will be aware that the win does little for their survival hopes and will be desperately hoping for all three points on Tuesday. Pompey are six points away from safety but with other teams struggling for form, Grant will be optimistic that his side can pull off a miraculous escape come the end of the season.

Meanwhile Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish will be hopeful that his side can bounce back from the FA Cup defeat and secure all three points on their second trip to Fratton Park. Birmingham have no major injury concern with James McFadden shrugging off his groin injury to start the game on the weekend. Portsmouth will be without Ricardo Rocha who is suspended for the game while Tal Ben Haim has recovered from his groin injury.
