Northern Ireland will be looking to consolidate their position in Group Three of the UEFA World Cup qualifying stage when they take on Poland at the Slaski Stadium in Chorzow on Saturday. Northern Ireland are currently placed second in Group Three with 13 points from seven games played so far. They are behind leaders Slovakia by 2 points, but have played one game more.

Manager Nigel Worthington will hope his side can do enough in the remaining games to claim the best second place finish if they fail to top the group. The Irish boss has injury worries ahead of the game as Chris Brunt and Andrew Little withdrew from the squad with injury.

The team will take on Slovakia at Belfast on 9 September before winding up their campaign with a game against the Czech Republic next month.

Poland coach Leo Beenhakker will need to ensure that his side wins all their remaining games if they are to stand any chance of making it to South Africa. French-born midfielder Ludovic Obraniak has received a call-up for this game. Poland are fourth in Group Three with 10 points from six matches.
