Panathinaikos are still searching for their first win of this season's campaign as they welcome Werder Bremen to the OACA Spiro Louis Stadium in Athens. Watch all the live Champions League action here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Panathinaikos boss Henk ten Cate would have expected a tough opening encounter against Inter Milan, which his side duly lost 1-0, but he would not have expected to lose on Matchday 2 to Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta.

In what was a forgettable night in Nicosia for the Greek club, Anorthosis overcame Panathinaikos 3-1. A Jose Sarriegi own goal set the tone of the game barely 11 minutes after the start. The Greek club were yet to recover from this shock when Sinisa Dobrasinovic doubled his side's tally with a fine header on 15 minutes.

 

 

Panathinaikos pulled one back in the 26th minute after Dimitris Salpingidis slotted home a penalty. But Anorthosis had the last laugh deep into the second half when Hawar Taher scored on the 78th minute.

The loss leaves Panathinaikos with no points after two games and they face an uphill task to qualify for the next stage.

 

 

Meanwhile Werder Bremen have managed to draw both their games so far. The German club were held to a 0-0 draw by Anorthosis on Matchday1 and had to come from behind on Matchday 2 to hold Inter to a 1-1 draw. Maicon gave Inter the lead in the 13th minute, but Pizzarro pulled level for Bremen to allow them to rescue a point.
