Panathinaikos have a great chance to make it to the last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League when they welcome Anorthosis to the OACA Spiro Louis Stadium in Athens on Tuesday. Watch all the live soccer streams here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

The Greek side looked to be down and out after being beaten 0-2 by Inter Milan on Matchday 1. Subsequent games including a shock 1-3 loss to Anorthosis and a 2-2 draw with Bremen did not help their cause. But Panathinaikos bounced back admirably with a 3-0 win over Bremen on Matchday 4 and followed it up with an upset 1-0 win over Inter Milan away from home on Matchday 5.

Jose Sarriegi was the architect of the splendid win at the San Siro and manager Henk Ten Cate will hope his side can repeat their heroics in this game as well.

 

 

Meanwhile Cypriot champions Anorthosis Famagusta have done brilliantly in their first season in the Champions League group stage. They started off with a creditable 0-0 draw against Bremen and followed it up with a shock 3-1 win over Panathinaikos in an emotionally charged match.

On Matchday 3 they suffered a 0-1 loss to Inter Milan and followed it up with a 3-3 draw against Inter and a 2-2 draw against Bremen. Anorthosis almost made it to the next stage as they were leading 2-0 over Bremen after goals from Nikos Nikolaou and Savio going into the final 20 minutes.

 

 

However Bremen pulled back with goals from Diego and Hugo Almeida. the draw kept Panathinaikos in the hunt for the last 16 and also gave Bremen hope of finishing in the third spot to claim the UEFA Cup spot.

The Cypriot club have major injury problems with Nikolaos Frousos out for 15 days after spraining his ankle. Goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy has a knee injury and this is worrisome for coach Temuri Ketsbaia as he is also without first choice custodian Arian Beqaj who is out with a leg injury.
