Dutch side PSV Eindhoven go into the second leg of their UEFA Cup quarter final clash against Fiorentina in a strong position as they look to build on their good performance in the first leg in Italy.

Fiorentina had taken the lead through Adrian Mutu in the second half but Danny Koevermans scored the equalizer just after the hour mark to ensure that PSV did not lose their 250th European club game. Sef Vergoossen will be satisfied by his side's performance in the first leg after they scored a vital away goal that meant that PSV could go through even if they hold Fiorentina to a 0-0 draw in the second leg.

Fiorentina have faced Dutch opposition just once in their history when they were paired against Groningen in the first round of this season's UEFA Cup and managed a 1-1 draw on both occasions and qualified for the next round after winning a penalty shootout.

PSV on the other hand have had plenty of experience playing against Italian clubs, winning six and losing eight of the 17 matches played. On the home front they have a reasonable record, winning six and losing two of the eight matches played.

One of the major concerns for Vergoossen will be his side's inability to hit the back of the net on a consistent basis with PSV scoring just nine goals in the 11 European matches played so far this season. Danko Lazovic is the top scorer for PSV with just three goals while Jefferson Farfan has scored two.
