Both the teams have lost their opening two matches and are yet to open their account in the group stage. With Liverpool and Atletico Madrid maintaining their perfect start, both Eric Gerets and Huub Stevens will be aware that anything less than six points from their next two matches will mean elimination from the competition.

Marseille are currently placed third in the group table having conceded two goals less than PSV but Gerets will be hoping that his side will be able to put up a vastly improved performance than their first two matches.

PSV on the other hand have failed to put up a good performance in their two matches so far, losing out 3-0 at home to Atletico before suffering a 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in their last match.

 

 

While both the teams still have a slender chance to make it to the next round, Marseille and PSV will be fighting it out for a third placed finish that will see them enter the UEFA Cup in the next round.
