Atletico's hopes of another top four finish have been dealt a severe blow following a disappointing start to the season. Los Colchoneros have managed just one win from their first six matches and currently sit 15th in the league table with just six points from six games.

With the club finishing inside the top four in the last two seasons, expectations are high this season and coach Abel Resino will be aware that his side will have to improve their form fast if he is to remain in the job come Christmas.

Atletico registered its first victory of the season as they secured a hard fought 2-1 win over Real Zaragoza in their last match. However it could have been a different result had Marko Babic converted his penalty in the 20th minute after Jose Jurado had put Atletico in an early lead. Antonio Lopez rubbed salt on Zaragoza's wounds by doubling the lead in the 66th minute and though Ewerthon managed to reduce the deficit in the 71st minute, Zaragoza were unable to find the equalizer late in the game.

Osasuna coach Jose Antonio Camacho will be keen to capitalize on Atletico's poor start to the season and bounce back from their defeat to Getafe in a positive fashion. Goals from Daniel Díaz and Pedro Leon saw Osasuna suffer a disappointing defeat in their last match though Camacho will be satisfied with his side's start to the season. Osasuna are currently 12th in the league table with seven points from six games and Camacho will be keen to collect all three points against Atletico and move into the top half of the league table.
