Bayern extended their lead at the top of the league table to seven points after registering a hard fought victory against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend with Hamburger being held to a 1-1 draw by Wolfsburg.

Bundesliga’s leading scorer, Luca Toni scored one goal each in either half as Bayern took a comfortable 2-0 lead. Bayern ran out comfortable 3-0 victors at the Allianz Arena early this season and since then, Nurnberg's season has gone from bad to worse with the club embroiling in a relegation fight.

A poor return of just four points from last nine games has seen Nurnberg sit 17th in the league table with just 19 points from 25 matches. Nurnberg is yet to register a league win under new coach Thomas von Heesen and with just nine matches left in the season, fans will be hopeful that von Heesen will be successful in turning around the poor form and held the club avoid the drop.
