Boss Billy Davies has some injury worries in this clash of the Championship sides, but is expected to field a strong side for this game. Joel Lynch is a doubtful starter after he sustained a back injury in his side's game against QPR last weekend.

Middlesbrough have generally enjoyed a good run in the League Cup in the last couple of years, but being relegated to the Championship may have an adverse effect this time around.
