After recording their first win of the new League One season against Wycombe Wanderers, Norwich City host Steve Bruce's Sunderland in the second round of the Carling Cup on Monday evening. Watch live Carling Cup 2009 streaming by signing up with the Live Sport Network.

 

 

New Norwich boss Paul Lambert got his reign off to a winning start as he led the Canaries to a 5-2 win over Wycombe on Saturday afternoon. Grant Holt, Korey Smith and Jon Otsemobor all netted within the first 35 minutes of the game to put Norwich 3-0 ahead, but Wycombe forced their way back into the game with goals from Jon-Paul Pittman and Matt Harrold. However Jens Berthel Askou made it 4-2 on 49 minutes, and Holt got his second of the game on 71 minutes to seal victory for Norwich.

Norwich beat Yeovil in the first round of the Carling Cup. Wes Hoolahan broke the deadlock from the spot on 55 minutes after Adam Drury had been fouled in the box, and Grant Holt then scored a quick fire hat trick to give the Canaries a convincing 4-0 away win.

Sunderland got their second win in three Premier League games as they beat Blackburn 2-1 at the Stadium of Light. Rovers defender Gael Givet's left footed screamer gave the visitors an early lead, but Kenywne Jones cancelled out his strike with a classy finish after being fed by Steed Malbranque.

Trinidad international Jones headed home his second from Lee Cattermole's cross after the interval, and that ultimately proved to the difference between the Black Cats and Sam Allardyce's side. Sunderland reached the fourth round of the League Cup last season before losing at home to Blackburn.
