The Yellow-Blues secured their first ever victory over neighbors Romania with a thrilling 3-2 win last weekend. Oleksandr Aliev had given Ukraine an early lead in the first half but two goals in space of 10 minutes by Gabriel Tamas and Daniel Niculae put Romania in the driver’s seat midway through the second half.

However Ukraine were back on level terms through Evgeni Konoplienka before an own goal by Tamas saw them clinch a deserved victory and maintain Myron Markevych’s perfect start as the Ukraine coach.

Norway too will be going into the match on the back of a hard fought victory against Montenegro on Saturday. Christian Grindheim had given Norway the lead on the stroke of half time but Mirko Vucinic equalized for the visitors late in the game. Just when it looked as if both the teams would have to settle for a draw, Zarko Tomasevic converted Morten Gamst Pedersen’s free kick into his own net in the final minute of the game to hand Norway a well deserved victory.
