Norway’s World Cup hopes hang by a thread as they host Macedonia in their final qualifying game on Wednesday night in Oslo. Watch Norway vs Macedonia live on your computer to find out whether Brede Hangeland and his men will board the flight to South Africa next year. ![]() Norway were held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland on Saturday evening. AS Roma defender John Arne Riise put Norway ahead in Reykjavik, AS Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen equalised for the hosts on 29 minutes, heading home a Gretar Steinsson cross. With the draw, Norway now have 7 points from as many games in Group 9. Nothing less than a win against Macedonia will do for the Norwegians. If they win, and group leaders Netherlands beat Scotland at Hampden Park, then Norway will go through because of their superior goal difference. Scotland are three points ahead of Norway, but currently have a goal difference of minus four. Macedonia’s hopes of making it to the 2010 World Cup took a huge blow as they were beaten 2-0 by Scotland at Hampden Park on Saturday afternoon. Macedonia were by far the better team in the first half, but were kept at bay by Scotland’s man between the sticks- Craig Gordon. Scott Brown’s 56th minute strike put the Scots ahead, and Birmingham City attacker James McFadden gave manager George Burley some much needed relief by sealing victory on 80 minutes as Macedonia slumped to defeat. Macedonia’s position in Group 9 is weak because they not only have a negative goal difference, but have also scored the fewest goals of all in the group. Both teams need a win, and we can expect to see some fine attacking football at the Ullevaal Stadium on Wednesday.
