Having narrowly missed out on a berth to the World Cup qualification play-offs, Northern Ireland will be looking to test their recent upsurge in form when they welcome Serbia in a friendly game on Saturday. Catch all the live footy action from that game by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network. Ireland put up a brave fight in their qualifying campaign and had a chance to qualify to the play offs. However a drop in form which saw them lose out to Italy and Slovakia meant that they had to settle for a fourth placed finish in the end.
However manager Nigel Worthington expressed his happiness at his side's performance in the qualification campaign and will now be looking forward to the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign after expressing his interest in remaining on as the Northern Ireland coach. Worthington has named Andy Kirk in the squad after only being called up as a replacement in the last squad. Rangers' Kyle Lafferty also finds a place in the squad after missing out on the match against Czech Republic due to an injury. Meanwhile Serbia coach Radomir Antic has called up a strong squad for the friendlies against Northern Ireland and South Korea. Antic has promised that all the players will get a chance to play in the two friendlies. That could mean a debut for goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic who replaces Vladimir Disljenkovic. With Serbia already qualifying for the World Cup finals, Antic will be keen to test out other players before naming the squad that will travel to South Africa next year.
