Northern Ireland will look to put a disappointing 2-0 loss to Slovenia behind them when they welcome San Marino this Wednesday. Watch all the live world cup qualifiers here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Northern Ireland were unlucky to lose 0-2 at Slovenia after having done all the hard work and keeping the home team quiet for almost 80 minutes. Slovenia struck twice in the final 10 minutes to deal a serious blow to Northern Ireland's hopes of making it to South Africa.

Goals from Novakovic and Ljubijankic in the 84th and 85th minute respectively finished the game on a great note for Slovenia and Northern Ireland were left ruing the chances they squandered during the first half.

 

 

Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has seen his team take just one point from their opening three 2010 World Cup qualifiers. He will be hoping that against San Marino his team gains full three points as they try to qualify from Group Three, which also includes Poland.

Jonny Evans is out of the game after having picked up his second yellow card of the campaign against Slovenia.

 

 

Meanwhile San Marino continued their desperate campaign with a 0-2 loss to Poland at home. Goals from Euzebiusz Smolarek and Robert Lewandowski ensured Poland were spared the blushes. at the Stadio Olimpico Serravalle. This was after Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski had saved Andy Selva's effort from the penalty spot after three minutes.

San Marino have lost all three of their world cup qualifying games and will hope to win this one against an Irish team low on confidence.
