The Magpies are currently lying on the 18th spot on the league table. With the proposed sale of the club making no headway in the market, it remains to be seen how long manager Joe Kinnear can keep his place especially if the results are not as good as expected.

In his first game in charge of the club, which he saw from the stands, Kinnear saw them fight back from two goals down to earn a draw against Everton. Mikel Arteta put the home side ahead after he slotted home from a penalty. The penalty was given away by Nicky Butt, who brought down Leighton Baines. Everton doubled their lead after Marouane Fellain scored a neat goal.

 

 

Just when it began to look like a familiar story this season for the Toon Army, Steven Taylor pulled one back, while Damien Duff equalized. The one point may not sound much, but it gave the players a confidence boost. Newcastle though have injury worries as Mark Viduka is yet to recover from an Achilles injury.

Meanwhile Manchester City have had a mixed bag of results ever since their new owners promised massive cash injection into the club. In their last game, Man City blew a 2-0 lead at home to go down 2-3 against Liverpool.

 

 

Stephen Ireland and Javier Garrido had given City a 2-0 lead at half-time before Fernando Torres scored a brace to get them on level terms. Liverpool sneaked a win in injury time thanks to Dirk Kuyt.
