After a barren run of 10 games without a win, Newcastle registered their first win under Kevin Keegan with a 2-0 victory over Fulham. The Magpies then snatched a shock 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and all but assured their safety against relegation by moving nine points clear of Bolton Wanderers.

Michael Owen seems to have found his form under Keegan with the striker scoring three goals in as many matches and pushing for a regular place for the national side. Owen is the joint top scorer for Newcastle along with Obafemi Martins and striker Mark Viduka is not far behind with six goals to his credit.

Reading on the other hand will be hoping to pull further away from the relegation zone after some good performances in the recent weeks has seen them go six points clear. Reading have lost just one of their last five matches, collecting 10 points in the process that has lifted them out of the drop zone to 15th in the league table.

Brynjar Gunnarsson and Jimmy Kebe could be available for selection for Reading after recovering from their injuries though Steve Coppell will be without Marek Matejovsky after the midfielder received a red card against Blackburn Rovers last weekend.
