Newcastle are firmly wedged deep in the relegation zone and are four points away from safety with just five games remaining in the season. Pompey will be without Younes Kaboul, Niko Kranjcar and Papa Bouba Diop who are yet to recover from their injuries while David Nugent is a doubt after picking up a thigh injury during the game against United.
