The Magpies are yet to taste victory in their last nine matches, collecting just three points in the process that has left them six points away from the drop zone. Keegan will have to turn things around quickly at St James Park if the club is to achieve at least a top half finish this season before the 57-year old can boost his squad in the summer.

Meanwhile Manchester United will be looking to build on their big win over Arsenal in the FA Cup as they look to close down the five point gap between themselves and Arsenal at the top of the table. United dominated right from the start and thoroughly deserved the victory which was achieved in the absence of Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs.

Wayne Rooney will be available for selection after serving his one match suspension during United's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in their last league match. Cristiano Ronaldo has recovered from his stomach virus that saw the winger sit out the FA Cup clash last weekend.
