Newcastle desperately need some wins under their belt and playing Fulham at St James' Park this weekend is a great chance to register their first win under new boss Kevin Keegan.

Keegan has seen his side play nine Premiership games under him without any results. In their last match, Newcastle managed to hold Birmingham to a 1-1 draw thanks to Michael Owen, who Keegan called a "world class" striker afterward.

James McFadden had given the Blues a deserved lead in the 33rd minute, but Owen rescued a point for the Magpies to leave them on the 14th position on the league table with 29 points from 30 games. Newcastle are still under relegation threat and can move further away from the drop zone should they beat Fulham.

James Milner, Shay Given, Emre and Stephen Carr continue to be sidelined for Newcastle, while Mark Viduka seems to have returned to fitness following a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile Fulham themselves sit deep in the relegation zone. The Cottagers did their survival chances no harm whatsoever last weekend with a much-needed 1-0 win over Everton with captain Brian McBride scoring the winning goal.

The win took Fulham's tally to 23 points, but they are still languishing on the 19th spot. Manager Roy Hodgson has expressed hope that his side can turn things around. Philippe Christanval and Jari Litmanen however continue to be sidelined.
