An injury hit Scotland side takes on Netherlands in their next World Cup qualifying matches with the Dutch side keen to pull further clear at the top of the group table. Three wins in three games has seen Netherlands open up a five point lead at the top of the table and a victory against Scotland on Saturday could see them go eight points clear at the top and all but confirm their place in the next year's World Cup finals.

However there are concerns for Netherlands after coach Bert van Marwijk revealed that he had tried talking Manchester United keeper Edwin Van der Sar out of retirement with both Maarten Stekelenburg and Henk Timmer not playing regularly for their respective clubs.

van Marwijk admitted that Van der Sar has not agreed to his request, adding that Stekelenburg will be starting the game as he thinks the Ajax keeper is the best suited for the job.

Meanwhile Scotland are struggling with injury problems with four of manager George Burley's key players unavailable for the crucial game on Saturday. Kris Commons, David Weir, Stephen McManus and Kirk Broadfoot are all out of action with injuries prompting Burley to recall Gary Teale for the first time since he picked him up in his first squad over an year ago.

It is a must-win match for Scotland if they are to have any hopes of overhauling the five point lead set by Netherlands and with just four games remaining after the game on Saturday, a defeat could mean that a second placed finish will be the best that Scotland could hope for.
