The Dutch have won all their seven qualifying games, and have already booked their spot at next year’s World Cup. Coach Bert van Marwijk has called up Celtic defender Glenn Loovens to the squad for the first time, and we could see the centre half make his international debut against Japan.

PSV midfielder Ibrahim Affelay is unavailable due to a hamstring problem, while Bayern Munich’s Mark Van Bommel has not recovered from his toe injury. Experienced defender Andre Ooijer, who scored in Holland’s last qualifier against Norway, will miss this game due to groin trouble. The Netherlands drew 2-2 with England in a friendly last month. Dirk Kuyt and Rafael van der Vaart were the scorers for Holland in that game.

Along with the Netherlands, Japan are one of the six teams to have already qualified for next year’s showpiece in South Africa. Coach Takeshi Okada has said that this is an opportunity for his players to find out how competitive they are. Okada has called up Catania striker Takayuki Morimoto for the first time, but the youngster’s thigh injury will keep him out of this game.

Fans of the Blue Samurai will get to see VVV Venlo star Keisuke Honda in action along with the likes of Shunsuke Nakamura and Makoto Hasebe. However Vissel Kobe hitman Yoshito Okubo has pulled out of this game citing lower back pain. His spot has gone to Jubilo’s Ryoichi Maeda.
