Real Madrid travel to Murcia this weekend in a La Liga clash that could see them further widen the gap at the top of the La Liga table.

The defending champions have started the season on a bright note, winning nine of their 12 matches so far and sitting comfortably at the top of the league table. Madrid have collected 28 points from 12 matches and are a point clear of Villarreal at the top.

Madrid overcame Mallorca in a tricky last match with the visitors managing to equalize twice before taking the lead. However Madrid players managed to hold on their nerve and equalize through Raul before Ruud van Nistelrooy grabbed the winner 17 minutes from time.

For Real Madrid, Soldado is a doubt with an undisclosed injury, while Robben is yet to recover from a leg injury suffered while on International duty. 

Meanwhile Murcia will be in search for their first point in three games when they take on Madrid on the weekend. Lucas Alcaraz's side has lost their last two matches against Deportivo LaCoruna and Getafe and has failed to score in their last three matches.

Murcia have had a good start to their comeback season, sitting in 13th position in the table after collecting 13 points from 12 games. Torres Ruiz and Bruno have missed the last eight matches due to undisclosed injuries and are not sure of facing Madrid as well.

The last time the two teams met was back in the 2003-04 season when Murcia managed to spring up a surprise by beating Madrid 2-1. However with his team overwhelming favorites to return empty handed Alcaraz will be delighted if Murcia manage to grab a point in the fixture this season.
