Middlesbrough will hope to recover from a massive loss to Fulham last weekend when they welcome Everton to the Riverside on Boxing Day. Watch all the live soccer streams from that game here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

Middlesbrough were humbled 3-0 at Craven Cottage last week as Fulham ran riot to snatch all three points and break into the top half of the Premiership table. Goals from Jimmy Bullard, Danny Murphy and Clint Dempsey sealed a nightmare result for Boro.

The loss meant Boro slipped to the 14th spot on the league table with 20 points from 18 games played so far. Manager Gareth Southgate is hoping that he will not be called on to make big decisions in the January transfer window as media reports indicate Manchester City might be interested in signing Stewart Downing. The form of record signing Afonso Alves is a matter of concern, but Southgate insists the Brazilian will soon come good.

 

 

On the injury front, Southgate is without Justin Hoyte at least until the New Year as he has undergone knee surgery. Didier Digard remains a doubt with a hamstring injury, but David Wheater is back from suspension, while Andrew Taylor and Mido have shrugged off their respective injuries.

Everton come into this fixture on the back of a decent 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Goodison Park. The draw came in a game that saw Blues skipper John Terry sent off as well. The result or lack of it meant Everton continue to be placed 7th on the table below Hull City with 26 points from 18 games. Toffees boss David Moyes is dealing with an injury crisis to his strikers including Victor Anichebe and Louis Saha. For two games running, Moyes has been forced to use Tim Cahill upfront. Record signing Marouane Fellaini is yet to fire and Moyes will be hoping he comes good on Boxing Day.

 

 

Everton were bundled out of the UEFA Cup in a shock result earlier this year and Moyes will be hoping his side can do enough to qualify for the next season as well. The Everton manager has expressed an interest in bringing Vagner Love to Goodison and may get his wish in the January transfer window.
