Marseille will be hoping for a mini miracle on Tuesday when they welcome Real Madrid with nothing less than a victory needed for the club to stand a chance of progressing to the knockout stage of the Champions League. Didier Deschamps’ side are one point behind AC Milan in their group table and need to beat Madrid and hope that Milan slip up against Zurich in their final match. The French club could progress ahead of Madrid if they beat the Spanish giants by three goals or more regardless of the result from the other match. Deschamps will be looking for a vastly improved performance from the last time his side met Madrid early this season. Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and another from Kaka had helped Madrid secure a comfortable 3-0 win over the French club.

Ronaldo will be back in action after missing out for more than a month with an ankle injury. The Portuguese winger played and scored in Madrid’s 4-2 win over Almeria but received a red card late in the game on Saturday. However Brazilian superstar Kaka will be unavailable for selection with the 27-year old out with an injury.

Marseille too are missing a number of players with Cyril Rool and Julien Rodriguez both out of action due to injuries while Loic Remy is not fully fit. However Stephane Mbia should be available for selection after recovering from his ankle injury.
