Manchester United kick off the defense of their European crown when they welcome Spanish side Villarreal in their opening group match on Wednesday. Watch all the live streaming football here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

United are aiming to become the first team in nearly two decades to successfully defend their Champions League title and manager Alex Ferguson is confident that he has the players who could make history at the biggest stage of club football. The English champions will be keen to inflict revenge on Villarreal who had held them to two goalless during the 2005-06 season that saw them finish bottom of the group table.

Villarreal will be making only their second Champions League appearance after finishing runners-up in the league last season. The Spanish club will have to be at their best on Wednesday if they are to have any hopes of repeating their performance from the last time the two teams met at Old Trafford.

 

 

United are on a run of 12 match winning streak at Old Trafford on the European stage and have not lost a game since March 2005. The English champions were undefeated in the Champions League throughout the last season, winning nine of their 12 matches played.

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi will be returning to familiar surroundings on Wednesday with the Italian striker spending three seasons at Old Trafford before completing his move to Villarreal in 2007.
