Live Premier League action this Saturday includes the clash of the titans at Old Trafford as defending champions Manchester United welcome Liverpool to the Theatre of Dreams determined to crush any dreams that Liverpool have of wresting the title from their iron grip. Manchester United have all but retained their title after racing to a seven point lead over Liverpool and Chelsea with a game in hand. With just about 10 games left this season, it is improbable that United will lose 4 games to open the door for their rivals.
Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished talk of a quintuple, but in his heart of hearts he will be wishing that his side can grab all trophies and thus give him a perfect platform to bid farewell. But before that ever happens he has a challenging week this time what with the visit by Inter Milan in the Champions League and the visit by Liverpool in the Premiership. The wily old Scot will feel his side can stamp their authority on this season, should they overcome both these hurdles. Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is fit to face Inter and Liverpool despite suffering an ankle injury in the FA Cup win over Fulham last week. John O'Shea has also been declared fit after recovering from a heel injury, while Gary Neville, Wes Brown and Rafael da Silva continue to be sidelined.
Liverpool on the other hand received a massive boost ahead of this tie as they crushed Real Madrid 4-0 in the return leg at Anfield to progress through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Manager Rafa Benitez will have been proud of his side's display and would be especially heartened to see Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres create havoc amongst the visiting defence. The Reds have frittered away a fine lead at the start of the season and are now forced to play catch up with United as they seek their first Premier League title since 1990. Those chances are admittedly remote, but they will be greatly enhanced should Liverpool beat United on Saturday. There are injury concerns ahead of this game for Benitez as midfielder Yossi Benayoun has a hamstring injury and Alvaro Arbeloa and Daniel Agger are doubtful starters. Earlier this season, Liverpool overcame United 2-1 thanks to an own goal from Wes Brown and a stunner from Ryan Babel. Carlos Tevez scored for United. Ferguson will be looking for revenge, while Benitez will be hoping for a repeat of the same heroics this Saturday.
