The defending champions secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Ham in the midweek with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace in the first half as United completely dominated the possession and chances.

However the hosts lifted the foot off the pedal in the second half, allowing West Ham to come close on a couple of occasions which could have proven costly for the Red Devils. Manager Alex Ferguson was furious with his side's performance in the second half and revealed that he wants his side to be ruthless until the final whistle, stating that goal difference could prove to be a key factor at the end of a season which could see all the "Big Four" teams vying for the title.

 

 

Hull City suffered their first defeat in seven league matches with a 3-0 loss to Chelsea as Frank Lampard, Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda were all on target for the Blues. A number of reports appeared in media items suggesting that the bubble has broken for Phil Brown's side and the defeat could see the Tigers go on a barren run that will see them slip closer to the relegation zone, a position which they were predicted to be since the start of the season.

However the Hull manager will be keen to show that his side can bounce back from their defeat to Chelsea and will be going all out for a win when they visit United this weekend.
