Having already booked their place in the knockout stages, manager Alex Ferguson is expected to give his young players a chance to impress. Both United and Villarreal are level on nine points with the defending champions placed at the top of the group table thanks to a superior goal difference.

United have already secured a comfortable victory over Aalborg in their first leg match, beating them 3-0 in Denmark. Wayne Rooney gave United the lead midway through the first half before Dimitar Berbatov wrapped up the victory with a brace in the second half.

 

 

AaB Aalborg coach Allan Kuhn will be satisfied with his team's showing in the group stage so far. The Danish club was tipped to finish bottom of the group table but a 2-1 victory at home to Celtic means that Aalborg will finish third and gain entry into the UEFA Cup even if they lose to United and Celtic beat Villarreal.

With both the teams level on two points ahead of their clash in Denmark, the managers of Celtic and Aalborg were aware that the tie will decide who will play in the UEFA Cup in the next round.

 

 

Celtic looked on course for a rare away win when Barry Robson put them in the lead eight minutes into the second half but Aalborg fought back to equalize through Caca before an own goal by Gary Caldwell assured the Danish side a place in the UEFA Cup.
