Manchester United look well on course to defend their title thanks to some uncharacteristic slip ups by Arsenal. The Gunners have collected a handful of points from their last few games allowing United to climb up the Premiership table.

The Red Devils have Cristiano Ronaldo in hot form and he was instrumental in making sure they did not drop points against Derby County last weekend. Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney are also in decent form although they have not scored enough goals in recent live footy action.

With just eight games to go before the 2007-08 Barclays English Premiership season concludes, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping his team can put in extra effort. He has some goalkeeping concern though with number one keeper Edwin Van Der Sar battling groin issues.

Tomasz Kuszczak could take his place after serving a one-match ban for his red-card during the soccer live action in the FA Cup quarterfinals against Porstmouth. However Ben Foster put in a decent show against Derby and may still be retained. United play Bolton in a mid-week game where a win would take them three points clear of Arsenal at the top of the league table.

Meanwhile Liverpool have bounced back from some indifferent results last month. Manager Rafael Benitez has answered his critics in the best possible manner by letting the results speak for themselves. Liverpool have won eight of their last 10 games in all competitions and could still enter the top two provided the other three mess up during footy live action in the next two months.

In their last game Liverpool humbled Reading 2-1 thanks to goals from Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres, which nullified a Marek Matejovsky strike for the Royals. The win took the Reds to the 4th spot on the table with 59 points from 30 games.

Torres' goal in that game made him the first Liverpool player since Robbie Fowler in the 1995-96 season to score 20 goals in a season. Manchester United have already beaten Liverpool 1-0 in the reverse fixture this season and had emerged 2-0 winners at Old Trafford in live football action last season.
