Seven points from their last three games has seen Tottenham close down the gap for safety to just two points and Harry Redknapp will be confident that his side will manage to at least lift themselves from the foot of the table by collecting all three points against City on Sunday.

Spurs snatched an unlikely victory against Liverpool last weekend with Redknapp admitting that his side were lucky to get all three points from the game. Tottenham were outplayed by Liverpool in all areas of the pitch for much of the match and it looked like a comfortable victory for Rafa Benitez's side after they took an early lead through Dirk Kuyt. However Spurs equalized thanks to an own goal by Jamie Carragher midway through the second half before Roman Pavlyuchenko snatched the victory by scoring the winner late in injury time.

 

 

Meanwhile Mark Hughes will be expecting a vastly improved performance from his side as he struggles to keep them in touch with a European place next season. After a brief of optimism following their 3-0 win over Stoke, City slumped to back to back defeats against Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers that saw them slip to 10th in the league table.

With his side scheduled to play Manchester United and Arsenal later this month, Hughes will be looking to collect maximum points from the games against Tottenham and Hull City. The Citizens won this fixture last season with goals from Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha helping them to a 2-1 win.

 

 

Tottenham are facing fitness issues over Jermaine Jenas and Giovani dos Santos while there are question marks over the fitness of Ledley King who is being rested for Spurs' UEFA Cup clash.
