City were impressive when they beat Schalke 2-0 at the Veltins Arena last week. The goals came from Benjani Mwaruwari and Stephen Ireland, and the victory was even sweeter because it came in the absence of star Brazilian forward Robinho.

Ireland in particular has been a revelation this season, and he will be looking to get on the scoresheet again. Mark Hughes’side have already qualified for the knockout stages, and should they beat PSG at home, they will, in all probability, top the group.

 

 

PSG came into last week’s UEFA Cup tie on a high after having beaten league leaders Lyon, but their  hopes were left hanging by a thread after they squandered a two goal lead to draw 2-2 against Racing Santander at home. Mateja Kezman and Peguy Luyindula put PSG ahead, but an own goal from Sammy Traore and a superb long range effort from Gonzalo Colsa forced both teams to settle for a share of the spoils.

Paul Le Guen chose not to start with the likes of Ludovic Giuly, Guillaume Hoarau and Claude Makelele against Racing, but with this game being such a crucial one, Le Guen will have no option but to field his strongest team. PSG had lost their opening group 3-1 to Schalke.
