Struggling Manchester City will be hoping for some cheer in the FA Cup when they welcome Championship side Nottingham Forest in the third round of the tournament on Saturday. Sign up with us here on Live Sport Network to watch all the soccer live.

After all the talk of Champions League football in the pre season, City are desperately trying to preserve their Premiership status with the club just two points above the drop zone. Manager Mark Hughes will be hoping to improve his side's flagging morale with a convincing victory that will see them progress to the fourth round of the competition.

 

 

Last season City needed a replay to beat West Ham United after the first leg ended 0-0 at Upton Park. Elano scored the winner late in the game at the City of Manchester Stadium to help his side progress to the next round where they were dumped out of the competition by Sheffield United in rather amusing circumstances.

Nottingham Forest meanwhile will be hoping to take advantage of their Championship status and put up a strong run in the competition. Forest were beaten 1-0 by Luton Town in the second round last season but will be hoping to repeat the performance from the season before when they went as far as to the fourth round where they were beaten by Chelsea.

 

 

The managerless Reds will be psyching themselves up for the clash on Saturday with reserve team manager John Pemberton hoping to impress the board with an unlikely win though they have been in talks with former Derby County manager Billy Davies and are hopeful of appointing him in the coming days.
