Inconsistent performances from Manchester City has seen the club languishing in the bottom half of the table, just three points above the relegation zone. However a brilliant performance against Arsenal last weekend has given manager Mark Hughes the hope that his side can finally hit form and challenge for a place in the UEFA Cup next season.

Stephen Ireland latched on to a defensive mix up between Mikel Silvestre and Gael Clichy to put City ahead. Robinho continued his excellent form to double the lead in the 56th minute before Daniel Sturridge completed the rout from the penalty spot in the final minute of the game.

 

 

Manchester United will be aiming to avenge their double defeat to City from last season when the Eastlands club secured a narrow 1-0 victory in this fixture before heading off to Old Trafford to beat United 2-1.

It was the first time that City had completed a league double over United in more than 38 years and fans will be hoping for more of the same as they attempt to outshine their more illustrious opponents.
