Man City were comprehensively beaten 3-1 by Hamburg in Germany. However the fatigue factor affected Hamburg’s performance in their weekend Bundesliga game against Stuttgart. Mario Gomez scored a stoppage time winner for Stuttgart as Hamburg lost ground in their bid to keep pace with leaders Wolfsburg.
