The race for fourth place in the league hots up as Everton look to maintain their recent good form by dealing a blow to Manchester City's Champions League aspirations when the two teams meet on Monday.

Everton are currently positioned 4th in the league table with 47 points from 26 matches but have Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester City breathing down their necks for a slip up. David Moyes' side are currently unbeaten in their last six matches, winning four in the process and will be going into the clash against City on the back of a 6-1 drubbing of SK Brann in the UEFA Cup match.

Moyes' squad will be boosted by the return of Leighton Baines, Anthony Gardner and Steven Pienaar who have recovered from their injuries though Thomas Gravesen continues to remain on the sidelines. With Ayegbeni Yakubu in red hot form, the Everton manager will be looking to do the double over City after already having registered a 1-0 win at Goodison Park early this season.

Meanwhile Manchester City fans will be hopeful that their team will build on their 2-1 derby win over Manchester United and return back to their winning best that had seen them occupy the third spot for a few weeks at the start of the season.

After a blistering start to the season, City's form has dipped with the club registering just three wins from their last 10 matches and Sven Goran Eriksson will be aware that his team will have to be at its consistent best for the remainder if they are to qualify for Europe next season.

On loan striker Nery Castillo should be available for selection after recovering from a shoulder operation as is Michael Johnson who was suffering from an abdominal strain.
