The Israeli side has lost all of its five group matches so far and though they have come close to holding out against much superior opponents on a couple of occasions, coach Elisha Levi will be disappointed with his side’s overall performance in the tournament. While his side were tipped to finish at the bottom of the group table, Levi would liked to have had put up a far more determined showing and will be disappointed that his side has not managed to open its account in the group.

However the final group match will provide Maccabi with its best chance to register its first point of the group stage with Bordeaux already having qualified to the next round with a 2-0 win over Juventus in their last game. Fernando broke the deadlock for the French champions nine minutes into the second half before Marouane Chamakh doubled the lead in the final minute of injury time.

Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc will be delighted with his side’s performances in the tournament after they were tipped to finish third before the group stage kicked off in September. Instead they will be finishing at the top of the group table regardless of the result on Tuesday. The French champions had secured a narrow victory over Maccabi early in the group stage with Michael Ciani scoring the winner late in the 83rd minute.
