The German giants will be the first side to play a Champions League group match at the Ramat Gan stadium with this being Haifa's second appearance in the group stages of the competition. The last time Haifa progressed to the group stages was back in 2002-03 season but were forced to play their home games in Cyprus.

This will be Bayern's second visit to Tel Aviv having played Maccabi Tel-Aviv during the 2004-05 season and securing a comfortable 1-0 win. Bayern will be going into the match on the back of their first win of the new season by beating Wolfsburg 3-0 at the Allianz Area.

Franck Ribery is expected to be fit for the game with manager Louis Van Gaal finally getting a chance to test the effectiveness of operating the French international with Arjen Robben on the flanks.

Ribery has been linked with a big money move to Chelsea and Real Madrid with Manchester United also reportedly interested in the French winger. Bayern have so far managed to convince Ribery to remain at the club, but the situation could change in January. Bayern coach Van Gaal will be making his first champions league appearance since the 2002/03 season when he led his then side Barcelona to a run of 10 successive wins.
